Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!

We have some new developments in the Art Room this year.  One big change is the 6 Day Cycle from the 5 Day Cycle.  This is a little more complicated so you need to keep a close eye on the cycle day in order to know when to expect Art Class.

The second change is the addition of Kindergarten Art!  The additional Cycle Day makes this possible.

A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT THE RED LION ELEMENTARY ART CURRICULUM:

·      We have 5 Art Teachers at the Elementary level.  We all teach the Discipline Based Art Education program.  This means that students learn about Art History, Art Production, Art Criticism and Aesthetics.

·      Art History guides the progress through the grade levels with Ancient Western Art in Grade 1 to Current Works of Art in Grade 6.

·      The students will learn about the events in the world that influenced the artists of the time, and they will create their own art in the manner of many famous artists.

·      We give students a broad experience in techniques and materials and many of their projects will be worthy of framing!
